Xiaomi Leads Indian Smartphone Market in Q1 2019: IDC Report

International Data Corporation (IDC) has released its latest report about Indian Smartphone Market of Q1 2019. The top 5 companies are mentioned in the list and once again Xiaomi continues dominates the smartphone in 2019. Surprisingly Realme makes its debut in Top 5 by shipping 1.9 million units in Q1 2019.

According to Early Report, Samsung leads the Indian Premium smartphone market with 36% market share, Thanks to its newly launched Samsung Galaxy S10 Series. OnePlus came second with 26% market share followed by Apple with a 19% market share. Although that didn’t help Samsung to get to the first position in overall smartphone market share in India.

Xiaomi did 8.1% growth in Q1 2019 compared to last year by supplying 9.8 million units in Q1 2019. Recently, Xiaomi announced on the twitter that they sold more than 2 million units of Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro.

Samsung’s YoY growth went down to 4.4% with 7.2 million smartphone shipment. Although, Company’s online market share increased by 13.5% in the first quarter, Thanks to its Online exclusive M series.

Vivo did the highest YoY growth in the first quarter by shipping 4.2 million units which are approximately double than last year’s quarter. Followed by Oppo and Realme which contributed about 7.6% and 6% respectively.

In Addition, the Indian smartphone market grew by 7.1% compared to last year’s first quarter. The total smartphone shipment in Q1 2019 is 32.2 million compared to 30 million last year.
