India is the third largest country to consume online pornography. The government attempted to ban porn in 2015 but because of mass outcry, they had to remove it. But Again on the order of DoT (Department of Telecom) Telecom provide blocked more than 800 pornography website in October 2018.
India’s recent porn ban happened after knowing rapist was addicted to porn and he admitted to watching porn videos before raping an underaged student. So The Telecom company followed the DoT rules and blocked more than 800 websites. Not only telecom company but broadband companies also blocked pornographic websites.
So Indians find out an easy way to bypass the blocked website like VPNs, Proxy resolver, and Private DNS. But One of the major telecom operator Reliance Jio started to block those services. But that’s not it, Reliance Jio is also blocking messaging application like Telegram and other apps like SoundCloud.
Since Telegram is a messaging application, Many users use it for the messaging. But some of the Telegram channels holds the pornographic content and maybe that’s why Reliance Jio is blocking that application.
