Everyone is waiting for the new Qualcomm chip going to hit the market later today. Until today what we know so far is all rumored information about this chipset and some Geekbench and AnTuTu numbers. Well, recently, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset leaked hours before its official announcement. The information includes the key details such as core architecture and capabilities of this chipset.
Of course, you will ask for the source. And it is TechCrunch. It seems the TechCrunch article on Snapdragon 855 published which was supposed to go public after the Snapdragon 855 launch. It is now pulled down but thanks to Beebom team for this information. The article was full of information. So, let’s dive into the complete detail on Snapdragon 855 chipset.
So, as per the leak, Qualcomm’s new generation Snapdragon 855 chipset was the hot topic until today on the web. Many sources have covered some interesting information such as a Benchmark result which interestingly beats Apple’s A12 Bionic chip. Also, please keep in mind, the Snapdraong 855 is not the Snapdragon 8150 chipset. Both the chips are different and the leak suggests the same.
Talking about the specifications, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset will be the world’s first 5G multi-gigabit mobile platform. It will sport eight cores and have tri-cluster design. You might know what tri-cluster design generally have. It consists of the single top-performance core clocked 2.84 GHz, three high-power cores clocked at 2.42 GHz and four efficiency cores having a clock speed of 1.78 GHz. However, details about the cores are not shared by the TechCrunch.
The article of TechCrunch which is now pulled down shown some other information as well. So, Snapdragon 855 also unveils the Adreno 640 GPU features Snapdragon Elite Gaming. And this is the same as Huawei has introduced the GPU Turbo mode earlier for the smoother gaming experience. Basically, it is a system optimization tool to improve the performance while playing the game on a smartphone.
Interestingly, the earlier rumors suggest us that the Snapdragon 855 chipset won’t come with the 5G support but now, the latest leak has confirmed everything. The SD855 chipset has two modems, Snapdragon X24 LTE modem, and Snapdragon X50 5G modem. So, it is clear the chipset will add capabilities to connect with the 5G network. Further, the chipset is based on the 7nm process and it will have a dedicated NPU with the multicore AI engine.
Here it is worth to note that it is not yet unveiled when smartphones will hit the market having Snapdragon 855 chipset. But for sure they might come in the first half of 2019. And the first phone could be the Samsung Galaxy S10. Later on Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus, and LG.
