OnePlus 6T Launched: Clean, Fast, Intuitive

Finally, the most anticipated smartphone has been launched today. Yes… we are talking about the OnePlus 6T: the Clean, Fast and Intuitive smartphone. Of course, I am as excited as you are right now to know everything about this device. So, let’s dive into it.

Design

For obvious reasons, OnePlus 6T has almost same the design as you have seen in case of their OnePlus 6 design. It seems the company is looking forward to the glass approach design. You will get two different options if you want to purchase these smartphones: the Mirror Black and Midnight Black. By the way, the Mirror Black is my personal favorite. Another major change in the design is on the rear side. This time the company has completely removed the fingerprint sensor from the rear side. This is the company’s first ever smartphone which is launched with the super-fast in-display fingerprint sensor. Don’t we will talk about this feature in a bit. So, on the rear side now you only have that dual camera setup with the flash.

Again coming on the front, the OnePlus 6T has now very thin chin. Now, the reason here for having a small chin ‘still’ on this new device (according to the OnePlus US product head as he has explained during the launch event) is to install the antenna lines in the device. And it is easy to guess that with the higher antennas, the device can catch the better signal.

But, you know this time the device doesn’t have the ‘headphone jack’. You will have to sacrifice a little bit to get some better features. There are no worries if you are a Bluetooth guy. However, the company does includes the connector inside the box.

Specifications

Let’s start by going under the hood. The OnePlus 6T will be powered by the Snapdragon 845 chipset having a clock-speed 2.8GHz. The GPU is Adreno 630 which is the powerful GPU right now and helps to export anything faster. Alright, talking about the RAM, the device will be available in two different variants — 6GB and 8GB. Both are DDR4 RAMs so, not to worry about the performance. And with that, it will have two different options in ROM as well — 128GB and 256GB. I really wonder, why though they haven’t made a variant having 512GB internals storage which most of the flagship manufacturers are focusing on!

With the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, the device is promised to deliver the amazing user experience. The image quality over the display will be fast, sharp and higher. The 6T features a 6.41-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 2340×1080 (402ppi) and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. And also if you are not living under the rock, you might have seen the leaked OnePlus 6 AnTuTu benchmark score, which is higher than any other smartphone on the planet right now. But it was a leak. And we will see the real benchmarks soon on the web.

Now, the software. As the company has shown at their launch event, the OnePlus’s software is the most preferred software by everyone. OnePlus devices come with the OxygenOS. According to the recent report, in 2018 the OxygenOS got 9.4 ratings out of 10 for its overall performance.

The device will be fueled by the installed 3,700 mAh battery. However, on the stage, the OnePlus’s Product Manager at the US hasn’t shared much information about it. So, you should expect the ‘Dash Charging’ feature. Not the VOOC as it was rumored earlier.

Camera

The all-new OnePlus 6T comes with the dual-camera setup on the rear side. Sorry… I know that you know everything. So, let’s take a look on sensors. The company has installed 16MP + 20MP camera sensors on the rear side to capture some amazing shots with your phone. Both camera lenses come with the f/1.7 aperture and have Optical as well as the Electronic image stabilization. Alright, these were the basic information. But, the most interesting part comes now.

The camera software got the new feature called the ‘Nightscape’. With the Nightscape feature, the camera would have a drastic change in the image quality. It can help to bring clarity, sharpness and proper lights with almost no noise in the images. There will be a certain amount of processes which will be applied on the captured image starting from the capturing process to the final outcome. And in this case, there should be proper integration between the hardware and the software.

With the Nightscape, there is another one new feature called the ‘Studiolight’. You might recall the iPhone’s feature that let you take different images using your front and rear camera which you capture in the studio like with the black background, etc. With the new OnePlus 6T, the user will be able to capture images having studio light effects.

On the front side, the device has the single 16MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture. It seems there is no improvement in the front camera since the OnePlus 6.

In-display Fingerprint Sensor

OnePlus 6T in-display fingerprint sensor feature was first teased in the OnePlus’s official forum. And after that in the talk with CNET, it was officially confirmed that the OnePlus 6T will come with the in-display fingerprint sensor. Well, actually I was not excited to see this feature in the device because it is already playing in the market started with the Vivo smartphones. But the most important part here is how it plays.

Surprisingly, the OnePlus 6T now has the world’s fastest in-display fingerprint sensor which will unlock your phone with the speed. When you will place your finger on the sensor, your device will be unlocked within freakin’ 0.34 seconds. The time is almost half of a second. And we have to say it should be incredibly fast compared with the Vivo’s in-display fingerprint sensor.
