India Bans Porn, As A Result People Searching on ‘YouTube’

Recently, in India, 827 porn websites are banned. This is a huge number. Almost every internet service provider and telcos have banned porn websites across the country. But, what people do if they don’t know about ‘VPN’ services. Simple, the traffic will go on other video platforms. And it seems YouTube is now part of them.

Yes, it is hard to believe and sometimes it makes me laugh as well. Since the last year, YouTube has seen a huge spike in growth, especially in India when Reliance Jio touched the market. Today, 85 people out of 100 are using YouTube to watch different videos. And talking about porn, people are searching on YouTube using different keywords who don’t want to get into the hassle of using the VPN app.

Analyzing the search terms through Google Trends, the different search terms are getting a spike. You can see the images below.

At this point, if the government is thinking that by creating a ban on porn websites, people will give up porn. But it is totally wrong. People are finding different ways to watch porn online and YouTube is right now becoming the main platform where people at least search for the first time.

Here are the terms that are grown on YouTube in a period of the last 30-days

  • Xvideos – 370%
  • Pornhub – 357%
  • Indian sex videos – 238%
  • Xnxx – 227%
  • Desi sex – 222%
  • Porn – 204%
  • Indian sex – 185%
  • Mallu sex – 182%
  • Sex scene – 147%
  • Bollywood Sex – 144%

This happens when people are not aware of all some different ways or don’t want to pass through hassled method like to use a VPN service. However, there are different advantages as well of using a VPN service. Of course, YouTube isn’t the right platform to watch porn. From the last couple of months, YouTube has been working hard on making their platform from harmfull content-free.
