Huawei Tried to Steal Apple Secrets; Company Said It is a Program that Rewards Employees

The second half of 2018 was not quite good for Huawei. Yes, the sells got hit by hike but on another hand, the company CFO Meng Wanzhou – a founder’s daughter arrested in violations of U.S. sanctions. So, smartphones are nearly banned in the United States. Now, according to today’s report, one of the Huawei’s engineer tracked the supplier of who makes Apple Watch’s heart rate sensors.

But, the thing did not wrap here. After he tracked down the supplier, he arranged a meeting with them which according to the reports, was offering a larger contract to the supplier for manufacturing the tech for Huawei company. Although, his main intention was to ask questions about the technology they use to make hear rate sensors for Apple watch.

The Huawei engineer attended the supplier meeting with four Huawei researchers in tow. The Huawei team spent the next hour and half-pressing the supplier for details about the Apple Watch. They were trying their luck, but we wouldn’t tell them anything.

From the top layer, the incident seems a pattern of dubious tactics to find out the other company’s secrets. Although, in reply to the executive statement, Huawei’s spokesperson said that the company is not wrong. It is a formal program that rewards employees who steal the information. Rewards include different bonuses which get rewarded on the basis of how confidential the information is.

This is not the first time the company is passing through such allegations. Previously, Huawei’s information gathering program led them to copy the component of MacBook Pro. So, in the previously launched MateBook the company has installed a ‘connector’ which makes it slim but still keeps the display connected with the logic circuit. The part designed was taken from Apple’s MacBook Pro 2016 model.
