OnePlus announced OnePlus 7 Pro with triple rear camera array but the biggest problem was that it can’t shoot videos with Wide-Angle sensor. But thanks to the Reddit user who found out a workaround. Using the camera debug mode you can also shoot all the videos using Wide-Angle sensor.
The Wide-angle mode is absent from the Camera application that many YouTubers including MKBHD pointed out and asked OnePlus for that. OnePlus replied That feature will likely won’t come to OnePlus 7 Pro.
How to Record Videos Using Wide-Angle Mode
- Open Phone Applications
- Dial *#*#1597#*#*
- The debugging camera software will launch (red text will appear over the camera app to indicate this)
- Switch to video recording mode
- Now press the switch camera until the red text reads ‘Lens: Back (Wide)(3)’
This is worth noting that you have to follow the mentioned method every time you want to record videos using Wide-Angle sensor. Keeping the application in memory will make your task easy as you won’t have to type the numbers in your dial.
It can record videos in 1080p as the 4k mode doesn’t seem to appear in the debugging camera applications. As OnePlus confirmed they don’t have any plans to implement wide angle mode while recording you can use this method as of now.
Yes, it’s not convenient but this is least you can do to shoot videos using Wide Angle sensor.
