Exynos 9820 vs Exynos 9825: Difference, Benchmark, and More… | Samsung has just unveiled its first 7nm EUV based Exynos 9825 chipset in response to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ chipset. Exynos 9825 is manufactured on much superior technology compared to Snapdragon 855’s TSMC FF technology. Samsung announced Exynos 9820 last year which powers Samsung Galaxy S10 series. The newer chipset powers the much powerful Note series.
You might be wondering how Exynos 9825 chipset compares to Exynos 9820 and how good is the newer chipset? So here is a detailed article comparing Exynos 9825 with Exynos 9820.

Manufacturing Process
Samsung’s 6-month old Exynos 9820 is built on 8nm LPP process while the company is using a 7nm EUV process to manufacture Exynos 9825 which is superior to the LPP process. The smaller manufacturing process should give Exynos 9825 a slight edge in terms of performance and should help to save some battery as well.
CPU and GPU
Exynos 9825 is just a minor upgrade over the Exynos 9820 so you won’t see major differences like newer architecture or new GPU. Samsung just overclocked the Cortex A75 architecture to 2.4GHz compared to 2.31Ghz in Exynos 9820.
Talking of GPU, Samsung did mention that the same Mali G72 – G76 MP12 GPU runs on faster clock speed compared to its predecessor. But we don’t exactly know how much faster will it be as Samsung has not revealed the clock speed.
Apart from this, We don’t see any changes to Exynos 9825 chipset compared to Exynos 9820. This small changes won’t make a huge difference but will definitely help to improve battery life and slight performance. This chipset is just a minor upgrade and it won’t power the future Samsung device.
Antutu Benchmark: Exynos 9820 vs Exynos 9825
- Exynos 9820: 325067 (Samsung Galaxy S10)
- Exynos 9825: 340325 (Samsung Galaxy Note 10)
Geekbench Benchmark: Exynos 9820 vs Exynos 9825
- Exynos 9820: 4472 — 9831 (Samsung Galaxy S10)
- Exynos 9825: 4558 — 10566 (Samsung Galaxy Note 10)
Summary
As per Antutu Benchmark, Exynos 9825 shows significant improvement over its predecessor in terms of performance. As per Geekbench score, The successor gets a better score here as well. The slight improvement makes it better than Exynos 9820 but we need to see how it performs in real life.
We will need to know how it performs against other processors such as Snapdragon 855/ 855+, Kirin 980, and Apple A12 Bionic. I will be writing an article comparing Exynos 9825 vs Snapdragon 855+ so stay tuned for that.
